How to achieve a flawless make up with these practical steps. No doubt your skin type is unique and will determine the kind of makeup products to use, but here is a general guide that can help you out no matter your skin type.
Step 1: Know Your Skin Type
Based on the kind of skin you have (whether oily or dry), you need to figure out if you should be using water-based or oil-based makeup products.
Mixing water-based skin care with oil-based makeup will probably not yield the best results because oil and water never mix so instead of achieving a flawless look, you will end up having a caked up face because the oil based make up will not sit well on your skin which is a makeup blunder
So it is always best to figure out your kind of skin first.
Once you know your skin type and have all the products you need, you can start with your actual makeup application
Step 2: Get Your Face Ready
Every make up requires a clean base in order to achieve a flawless look
First thing to remember is always keep your skin neat, hydrated and healthy
Do your facials at least once in every three weeks.
Alternatively, you can do a DIY (Do It Yourself) facial yourself at home.
To get a glowing skin, try to use a deep cleansing face mask to cleanse the face of any dirt or oil from within.
If you have dull and dry skin, exfoliate to remove dead skin layers or dry patches (do not over exfoliate your skin).
Apply a toner on a damp cotton pad and sweep it over the face gently. This helps to remove any dirt on the skin as well as restoring PH balance.
Once this is done, apply a moisturizer.
A light moisturizer will be best for an oily skin as heavy moisturizer will be best for a dry skin.
Step 3: Apply a Primer
After all of the above is taken care of, wait for the moisturizer to set it and apply a primer.
Primer helps to ensure you have a smooth surface to work on making it easier to apply foundation.
It also helps your makeup to last longer.
Step 4: Applying Concealer
Once the primer has been applied, apply a concealer.
Concealers helps to conceal any spot or imperfection on your face.
It is better to use a shade darker than you skin in order to conceal properly.
Apply the concealer and dab it into the skin with either your finger tip, a brush or beauty sponge. It is better to use ring finger when applying the concealer on a delicate part like under your eyes.
Gently apply the concealer in the rest of the areas where you think you require it.
It is vital that you only dab and not blend the concealer since you don’t want to be moving the product around too much.
Step 5: Applying Foundation
Choosing the right foundation for your skin is usually difficult
Choose the right foundation according to your skin type. Usually, powder and water-based liquid foundations are good for oily skin while dry skin is best off with cream foundation or oil based liquid foundation.
Apply a small quantity of the foundation onto the face.
Distribute it evenly using a foundation brush or blending sponge to blend it in till you achieve a smooth finish.
Step 6: Apply Powder
Apply the powder after the foundation of the makeup must have been set. Always you the powder of your skin tone so the makeup will blend well.
Step 7: Applying Eyeshadow Primer
Use an eye primer to prime the eyelids.
I use Zaron primer because I like the intensity it gives my eye shadows. So I recommend Zaron primer you can also use anyone that best works for you.
If you have an oily lid, then this is an important step for you.
Apply the primer all over the eyelid.
Step 8: Apply eye shadow
Apply any color of eye shadow on the lids (depending on the color of your outfit), blend in well and smoothen out any harsh lines.
If you want a simple everyday look, use non-shimmery and natural colors.
Invest in good eye shadows as they give you the look you desire.
Step 9: Applying Eyeliner
Use brown or black eye pencil, gel liner or liquid liner to line your eyes.
Use brown eyeliner for a subtle look and black for a more defined eye look.
Sometimes when you want to skip eye shadow you can always complete your make up look with eye liner.
Step 10: Applying Mascara
Use your eye lash curler to gently curl your lashes.
For a dramatic effect, add false lashes.
Make sure to use glue that’s meant for the eyelashes and be extra careful so you don’t put the glue in your eyes.
Apply another layer of mascara to make it look thicker and full.
Step 11: Applying Lipstick
Before applying any lipstick, make sure your lips are not dry.
Apply a healthy lip balm and let it sit in for about a minute.
Once that is done, apply the lipstick..
Apply the lip pencil and fill in the lips.
Now apply the lipstick either directly from the tube or use a lip brush.
Once you have applied it, blot and reapply another layer. This ensures that the color stays for a longer time.
Add a layer of gloss for added shine.
And there you have it!! Your flawless makeup finish look.
