Zobo drink is made from (dry) Roselle leaves popularly known as Hibiscus Sabdariffa leaves which come from a species of Hibiscus plant. You can mix other essences to your drink but the leaves are compulsory.
Zobo drink is one of the most popular local drinks in the world coming from Nigeria, although its name varies in other countries. It has many health benefits and is perhaps the reason why many would prefer to have this drink over other conventional drinks.
If you would like to make your Zobo drink yourself, here are the ingredients and steps you need to follow:
Zobo leaves(5 cups)
Ground Ginger and garlic if available( 2 fingers)
Sachets of pineapple flavour (2 sachets)
Sugar(2 teaspoon) and
Other than these, you can also add Orange, Lemon, Lime and Strawberry as you like.
1. Wash the Roselle leaves (do not soak in water to avoid washing away the nutrient, just rinse) into an already boiling pot of water.
2. After some minutes, add the ground ginger or garlic
3. Cook for another fifteen minutes. Then you allow to cool before you filter.
4. Add the pineapple flavour.
5. Add sugar if you want.
You can now refrigerate and serve your Zobo drink.
